A ride to honor our friend Dave Sherman

25 and 50 mile routes
Start/Finish at The Fitness Center @ High Point Regional Hospital in Downtown High Point, NC
Anyone who ever rode with Dave Sherman quickly discovered that he was passionate about the sport of cycling. More importantly, they learned that Dave was an incredible human being. When Dave was struck down while riding on Saturday, October 24, 2009, the world suffered a tremendous loss. Friends of Dave, cycling enthusiasts, and anyone else touched by the story of this remarkable man are encouraged to gather on Sunday, November 15, 2009 to honor and celebrate Dave.
- Time:
- Both rides will start at 1:30 pm.
- Location:
- The Fitness Center at High Point Regional Hospital (off Lindsay Street in High Point, NC).
- Route:
- 25 and 50 mile routes will be available, riding into beautiful Randolph County and the Caraway Mountain area. Ride support is provided by Sealy Mattress Inc.
- Fee:
- The ride is free but contributions to the "Yield to Life" (yieldtolife.org) cycling safety advocacy group will be accepted in Dave’s name. Those wishing to contribute should bring a check made out to the Dave Sherman Memorial Fund. Directions to High Point Regional Hospital
From Greensboro:
From I-85 South, take the exit to Business 85 South. Take the exit to Kivett Drive and turn right. Take Kivett all the way into downtown High Point. After crossing Main Street, turn right onto Lindsay Street. Just past the intersection at Westwood Ave., the entrance to the Fitness Center is on the right. Parking is available at many medical buildings around the Hospital and Fitness Center.
From Winston Salem:
From I-40 heading east take the exit for 311 towards High Point. After approximately 12 miles, exit right onto Business 311 (North Main Street). You will go through a series of stoplights and the intersections at Eastchester Drive and Lexington Avenue. After several more lights, you will come to the intersection of Main Street and Parkway Ave. Turn right onto Parkway and immediately bear left onto Lindsay Street. The Fitness Center is down on the left, approximately ¼ mile. Parking is available at many medical buildings around the Hospital and Fitness Center.
