Tour de Furniture Official Start Time

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I called the Red Cross this morning as well as this afternoon and verified twice the start times for Saturday’s Tour de Furniture. I was told that the 100K, 50K, and 50 mile rides will all start at 7:30 am. The 10 mile ride will start at 8:00 am. The ride time change vs. last year was in response to requests for later start times. Registration opens at 6:00 am. Even if you are pre-registered as an individual or team member, you will still need to stop at the registration table.

Tuesday Night’s “Ride to Open Sky”

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

The Tuesday evening ride out of High Point proved to be a “Ride to Open Sky” rather than the normal planned route.  Storms popped up everywhere once the ride rolled out into the country.  The course route changed at almost every stop sign and course direction was determined by riding in any direction that was going away from the lighting.  As a result, the ride leadership changed continually to anyone that declared “I know where we are now”.  It turned out to be a great ride.  Everyone returned dry and no one was dropped or lost.  The most positive take away was that we now have a new route to ride.

Fourth of July Ride Update

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

30+ riders joined  together for the 2008 Fourth of July VeloProject.com ride.  Thanks to all the VeloProject.com sponser’s for making this ride possible.  Also thanks to Don Shaw for his bike route planning. cue sheets, and other behind the scenes support  and Donna Lewis for volunteering to become the event photographer and sag support for the ride.  It will be great to see some of the newer VeloProject.com riders who were a part of the Fourth of July ride begin riding with the Tuesday and Thursday rides out of High Point as well as joining in other ride and bike support opportunities that VeloProject.com is involved in.

Lost Bike Helmet

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Bo and Hasnah rode the Fourth of July ride with our club on Friday.  When Hasnah was leaving, she picked up the wrong helmet by mistake.  The helmet is a silver GIRO TRANSFER.  Bo and Hasnah would like to get the helmet back to it’s owner as well as get Hasnah’s helmet back.  Check your helmet and if you don’t have yours I’ll bet Bo and Hasnah do.  Bo and Hasnah can be reached at 880-0676 or you can leave a comment and they will contact you.
