VeloProject Riders Compete in the USA Cycling 2009 Masters Road National Champsionships

David Ellefson of Banner Elk, NC wins the USA Cycling 2009 Masters Road Championship Individual Time Trial Masters 75-79 on July 1. Ellefson also took the Bronze medal in the Road Race Masters 75-79 on June 29 and 5th place in the Criterium Masters 75-79 on July 3. A year earlier Ellefson took the Bronze medal in the Individual Time Trial Masters 70-74. Ellefson is currently the category record holder for both 70-74 and 75-79 age groups at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

David Stevens of Vilas, NC completed the USA Cycling 2009 Masters Road Championships with two top fives and a top ten finish. Stevens took 7th in the Road Race Masters 60-64, 5th in the Individual Time Trial Masters 60-64 and 4th in the Criterium Masters 60-64. Earlier this year Stevens won the NC State Road Race Championship for Masters 60+, NC State Games Criterium Masters 55+ and took the Bronze at the NC Criterium Championship Masters 55+. Stevens will be defending his championship at the NC State Time Trial Championships later this month on July 26. Stevens is also the current category record holder for Masters 55+ at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Riders Set New Category Records at Lowe’s Motor Speedway

David Stevens and David Ellefson set new category records for the 10 mile time trial at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on August 13th. David Stevens time was 21:12.96 trimming 8.38 seconds from the previous record of 21:21.34 for Masters 55+ set by Ron Gillespie on August 23, 2006. David Ellefson rode a 23:38.06 beating his own record of 23:56.67 for Men 70-74 that he set back on April 9, 2008. David Ellefson set the category record for Men 70-74 in April smashing the previous record of 27:20.99 set by Herb Brown on August 2, 2007 by 3:24.32.
